Interactive, Practical and Inclusive
I believe that training should be more than just information-sharing — it should be interactive, practical, and inclusive. Every workshop I deliver is designed to give participants tools they can take straight into their practice or workplace, while also creating a safe and engaging space to learn together.
At the heart of all my training are neurodivergent voices and lived experiences, alongside the latest research and best practice guidance. I believe the most meaningful learning comes from combining evidence with the perspectives of those with direct experience. This ensures that every workshop is not only academically grounded but also deeply relevant to the realities of everyday life.
My approach is rooted in my values:
- Neuroaffirmative practice – celebrating neurodivergent strengths and adapting therapy with compassion and respect
- Accessibility and inclusivity – using a variety of teaching methods to support different learning styles
- Best practice and research-led – continuously updated to reflect current evidence and guidance
- Emotional safety – creating a learning environment that feels supportive, respectful, and collaborative
- Lived experience at the centre – amplifying neurodivergent voices to shape understanding and practice
Adapting Therapy for Autistic Clients
This full-day workshop is designed to support therapists and mental health professionals in developing confidence and skills when working with autistic clients. The training is rooted in neuroaffirmative practice, moving away from pathologising approaches and towards therapy that is inclusive, respectful, and empowering.
During the day, we explore:
- Features, strengths, and challenges of autism – building a balanced, affirming understanding that highlights both resilience and areas of support
- Autism and mental health – recognising co-occurring conditions and supporting wellbeing holistically
- Sensory adaptations – practical ways to create therapy environments that feel safe, calming, and accessible
- Alexithymia – understanding and supporting clients who experience difficulties identifying and expressing emotions
- Executive functioning – strategies to support planning, organisation, and regulation in therapy
- Masking – exploring its impact on identity, wellbeing, and therapeutic engagement
- Communication – adapting therapeutic approaches to meet diverse communication needs
- The double empathy problem – reframing misunderstandings as two-way challenges, not deficits
- Central coherence – understanding different processing styles and their implications for therapy
- Principles of neuroaffirmative practice – embedding inclusivity and respect throughout therapeutic work
- Practical adaptations in therapy for common mental health problems – tailoring approaches for anxiety, depression, trauma, and more
