Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based talking therapy that addresses the connection between thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical sensations to break unhelpful cycles.

What Is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy with a large body of research supporting its effectiveness in treating a wide range of mental health challenges.

It focuses on the connection between our thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical sensations. Sometimes these can become caught in unhelpful cycles, making life feel overwhelming or stuck.

CBT helps you understand how your thoughts and behaviours influence how you feel — and empowers you to make meaningful changes that enhance your wellbeing.

It’s a structured, collaborative approach that aims to improve mental health by identifying and modifying unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. CBT isn’t about “thinking positively” or ignoring difficult emotions — it’s about building awareness, exploring meaning, and learning practical tools to cope and move forward with confidence.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, or low self esteem, CBT can help you regain clarity and a sense of control.

For neurodivergent clients, CBT can be adapted to honour your unique ways of processing and experiencing the world.

How CBT Helps

CBT empowers you to:

  • Make sense of emotional distress by identifying thought patterns that reinforce it
  • Learn coping skills and strategies tailored to your goals
  • Break free from repetitive cycles like avoidance, worry, or self‑criticism
  • Reframe limiting beliefs and discover more compassionate ways of viewing yourself
  • Strengthen resilience and problem‑solving for life’s ups and downs
  • Create a routine with regular experiences of enjoyment, achievement, and connection — in line with your values and goals
  • Work collaboratively with a therapist to create meaningful, lasting change
  • Process trauma, reclaim your life, and build new understanding

A Path Forward

CBT is forward‑facing and hopeful. It acknowledges the pain of the past without letting it define you. With the right support, you can move from merely surviving to actively thriving. If you’re feeling unsure, stuck, or exhausted by old patterns, know that change is possible.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you — it’s about understanding you, walking beside you, and empowering you to chart a path forward.
